Thank you for attending the 5th Annual That Takes the Cake! Sugar Art Show and Cake Competition. We hope you had the opportunity to take advantage of all the events - that you learned a lot from the demonstrations and classes, got some cool new tools from the vendors, took great pictures of the amazing competition cakes and that you were able to connect with old friends and make new ones.
Many thanks to our sponsors, celebrity demonstrators, judges, mini-class instructors, donors and vendors for their participation. This show was greatly enhanced by their involvement. Please be sure to thank these people for being here at the Show!
A show of this magnitude requires a small army of volunteers. I can not thank the volunteers enough for their many hours of service. There are three women who I particularly want to recognize and thank - Kim Sanchez, Michelle Hilliker and Kyla Myers. They have donated countless hours and their talents to make the Show a success.
Music - what a fun theme for this year. I think it was especially appropriate for an Austin based Cake Show. The bands played were local bands who donated their time to play at this event. The proceeds for the People’s Choice Award went to the Austin Music Foundation.
Lastly, I want to let you know that we are already busy working on next year’s Show. Mark your calendar now - February 27 and 28, 2010. The theme for the Show and the Showcake Competition will be 2010 - a Cake Odyssey - celebrating all things sci-fi. Put your propeller cap on and start thinking about your entry for 2010. Details about the demonstration and classes will be released as plans are finalized. Check back here often for updates.
