Marina Sousa is the owner of and lead designer at “Just Cake” near Monterey Bay in California.
Marina’s background in theatre and fashion lends her a unique perspective to the art of designing cakes. She began her sugar arts career at an upscale design studio in Beverly Hills, where she enjoyed the rare opportunity to hone her skills while working with world-class event designers and celebrity clientele. After graduating top of her class to earn her degree in Baking and Pastry Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, as well as the CIA’s Baking Achievement Award, Marina quickly earned a solid reputation based on her impeccable style, enduring quality, intricate design, and uncommon experiments with gravity-defying structures.
Marina’s work has been featured in several magazines such as “InStyle”, “Bride”, “Modern Bride”, “Weddings of Distinction”, “Grace Ormonde Wedding Style”, and “People”. She has also been seen on television where she has won multiple gold awards on “Food Network Challenge”. Marina has since served as a judge for the series and appeared in several Food Network specials such as “Food Network Caters your Las Vegas Wedding” and “The Food Network Awards”. However, Marina’s favorite appearance was on “Fantasy Weddings” where she had the honor of making the wedding cake for her friend Keegan Gerhard, pastry chef and host of “Food Network Challenge”.
