Mark Seaman

seamenAward-winning sugar artist and cake stylist, Mark Seaman is the founder of Marked for Dessert, A Cake Boutique in Chicago and The Neighborhood Bakeshop in Libertyville, IL.

He developed his nationally-recognized style and expertise in special occasion and wedding cake design through many years of intensive study at the International Sugar Art Collection School of Confectionary Art, The French Pastry School, and the Wilton School of Cake Decorating. He has trained with leading cake decorators, chocolatiers, and sugar artists from around the world. Currently Mark teaches at the Wilton School of Cake Decorating and formerly taught at Chicago’s renowned Kendall College.

In addition to winning gold, silver, and bronze medals at the National Wedding Cake Competition, Mark has judged numerous culinary competitions across the country, including the National Gingerbread House Competition in Asheville, NC. The Food Network, HGTV, the Travel Channel, and ABC 7 in Chicago have all featured his culinary masterpieces. In the 2007, theknot.com, the top online wedding planning destination, named Marked for Dessert as one of the best wedding cake bakeries in the Midwest.
Fluent in French and conversational in Russian, Mark has lived abroad in Italy and France, where he studied French art and literature and taught English.

The International Pastry Tour,  Mark’s latest endeavor, is a culmination of Mark’s vast knowledge and expertise in both food and language and a desire to pass that knowledge on to others in an intensive, multi-sensory, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Mark is an active member of the International Cake Exploration Societé and CARBA (the Chicago Area Retail Bakers Association).
