Competitor Registration 2025

That Takes the Cake is a judged cake and sugar art competition that is open to all ages and skill levels. The competition is divided into the Divisional Competition, Sugar Showpiece Competition and Tasting Competition. In the Divisional Competition, entries are classified by Division (age/skill level) and Style (type of entry) so that entries are only judged against others of the same style made by competitors with the same skill level. This year’s Tasting Competition includes the following categories: Power Up Your Cake Mix, Someone Stole Your Sweet Roll, Common Ingredient (Tea/Coffee), Game On Cookies and, Candy Crush. All competitions are judged by a distinguished panel of qualified judges and competitors receive a judge’s comment sheet reviewing their entries. Medals, prizes, and cash prizes are awarded to winning entries. General Admission entry to the Show is included in the registration fees for the competitor. For competitors under 18, competition registration includes general admission for the competitor and one accompanying adult.

Write the number of entries that you will be submitting for each Division/Category. The entry fee includes up to 2 total entries. Additional entries are $5 each. So that we can properly allocate space, please only register the entries that you intend to actually bring.

SUGAR SHOWPIECE COMPETITION

Refer to the Rules for complete information about the Sugar Showpiece Competition. Entries must be a minimum of 24” tall and be sized to meet a minimum of 100 servings of cake. Each entry is displayed on an individual 48” round, 29” high table, and each entrant is responsible for providing their own table covering and decorating the table. Electricity can be made available at each Sugar Showpiece table.

Tasting Competition

Refer to the Rules for complete information about the Tasting Competition. Entries are judged on taste and appearance. The recipe must accompany the entry. Recipes submitted must be the original creation of entrant and the recipe must not have been published previously in the same or substantially the same form. Entrant cannot have won prizes or awards in other contests for the submitted recipe. The recipe must be printed on a standard 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper with NO identification as to the entrant. Please note that entries must NOT require refrigeration.
